The spoiling continues... tonight I got to hang out and bake with my awesome friend Dom aka Cateringchef. She gave me a cool birthday gift, a voucher to one of her great events (what will it be.... the perfect steak class?? the tequila cocktail and food pairing?? so many scrummy choices). She also gave me some beautiful vanilla pods..... they just smell of island life... sigh
Thanks Cateringchef!
a place to chat about things I like and do. My vintage bag collection, eating, cooking will feature strongly.

so very very spoilt
I recently celebrated a birthday and was thoroughly spoilt with:
loads of good wishes. So many people called and emailed and facebooked and sent their wishes. Nothing like that to make you feel loved!
a really special dinner with a few wonderful people, cooked and hosted by my wonderful sister, with dessert by my wonderful husband!!
great gifts! and lots of them! woohooo! here's just a smattering of a taste of those that I could find pics of on the internet :

This beauty comes from here, and it is for writing down those 3am thoughts!
A book which is so far pretty excellent!
stunning things, click here and get ready to drool
This is such a cool idea, personalised Coke bottle, mine obv doesn't say Tom!
More gorgeousness from Kikki K
Got some awesome new shoes to help me achieve my new year goals. I bought them at The Sweat Shop in Dunkeld, a shop which I cannot recommend highly enough. Wow! Wow! Wow!
And so much more: flowers, more books, a dress, lovely smelling bath goodies, a bin made from recycled Coke cans (pics to follow when I find camera cable!) - Do you sense a bit of a coke theme here? Yes, I <3 it!
So that's it for another year, what an absolutely smashing week I have had. I feel so grateful and so loved!

wanna swap?
I have moved on from swapping note paper on the playground (remember "swaps"?) to swapping other things. I love the idea that one person's trash is another person's treasure. I do think it is sad though, when something that someone else would love is sitting at the back of someone's cupboard..... so, to celebrate world swapping day, 21st January 2012, I would like to do a perfume swap. Do you have any fragrances whether from the body shop or the finest brands, boxed or unboxed, full or somewhat used that just aren't "you"? Get in touch or leave a comment. If necessary, all postage and packaging will be for your own account. Leave a comment and your e-mail address and let's do this thing!

All this "back to school" advertising triggers the thought of brand new stationery. OMW I am a stationery junkie and I have lately come across the coolness that is TYPO, a part of Cotton-On which has recently launched in South Africa. Next, let's hope the awesome and bankrupting Paperchase comes to our shores next. Look at some of the gorgeousness from Paperchase, especially the tea towels *sigh*

only one goal
In the midst of all the festive celebrations, we can often get carried away and make too many resolutions that just end up being too difficult to do and they get dumped. My goal for this year is to do some form of exercise for 150 minutes a week. Please hold me to it!
shopping, not as much fun as it used to be (WTF?)
so I hussled off to the Zara sale this morning with very high hopes and even some money to spend (what a combo!) but was a bit disappointed. I did end up buying a few things but the red blazer that I completely fell in love with and was marked at R329 was mismarked (it was supposed to be R999 which I wasn't prepared to pay) so I left pretty bleak.
Then I saw these loafers at Witchery marked down by 50%, but they didn't look that good on me. Tres disappointing.
